A: No. The D.A.'s
Forever has nothing whatsoever to do with the legal profession.
Q: Is The D.A.'s
Forever available as a print book?
A: Not at this time.
The D.A.'s Forever is currently available exclusively on the Kindle platform.
Q: What's Kindle?
A: Kindle is an ebook
reader developed by Amazon.com.
Q: I don't own a Kindle.
Does this mean I can't read The D.A.'s Forever?
A: You don't need a Kindle
to read The D.A.'s Forever or any other Kindle book. You can either download a free Kindle reading app to your PC, Mac, iPhone, or smartphone, or you can just use Amazon's Cloud Reader to read the book in your browser. All you
need is an account with Amazon.com and an Internet connection!
Q: Okay. So what exactly
is The D.A.'s Forever about?
A: The D.A.'s Forever
is about four men in their late forties who get together during a special 30-year high-school reunion in their old home town
in 1988. As teens, the guys had been known as the D.A.'s, a tight group of friends who enjoyed getting together, cruising,
looking for action, picking up girls, and generally keeping their turf safe from troublemakers. But over the years they have
drifted apart, as people tend to do, and each of them is facing family issues and personal (and midlife) crises.
Q: What age level is
the book targeted for?
A: The D.A.'s Forever
is basically aimed at folks who were born during the years from 1940 (the year of birth of most of the characters) to 1964—the
pre-boomer and baby-boomer generation—although people born prior to and after those years should get something out of
the book as well, as the novel deals with the universal themes of friendship, love, sex, family, and nostalgia. The D.A.'s
Forever contains mature content and is not recommended for children under the age of eighteen.
Q: Define "mature content."
A: Well, for starters,
there's adult language peppered throughout the text; with raunchy New Jersey guys such as Frankie, Eddy, Tony, and Denny,
who were greasers during the 1950s, there's no shortage of four-letter words. Then there's the sex. There are several sexual
scenes which, while not overly long (they don't run to pages and pages), are still rather descriptive and at times quite explicit.
The D.A.'s Forever is not porn or erotica; anybody expecting a book of either of those genres will probably be disappointed.
But it is very frank and not for the faint of heart or easily offended.
Q: Many books on the
market these days contain explicit language and sex. Why make a big deal of it?
A: Because it is a big
deal to some folks, and I respect that. I don't want readers to feel ambushed when they come across the first f-bomb,
or recoil when they see the earthy term for oral sex. It's important to me that the people who read this book enjoy it, and
the inclusion of frank language and sexual content may turn some people off and make them not enjoy it as much or even get
part way through the book and not want to finish it. (Mind you, this is a disclaimer; not an apology.) Like anyone else, I
take pride in my work and I want people to be pleased with the fruits of my labor. I want to be fair and transparent to potential
readers so they know what to expect. And I want to garner positive reviews!
Q: Why is The D.A.'s
Forever only available as an ebook?
A: Because of the ease
of getting it published as such, as well as the matter of cost. The D.A.'s Forever sells for $2.99 USD. That's less
than three dollars—less than the cost of a fast-food meal or even a specialty coffee drink at some places—for
a full-length novel. Print books cost money to produce; there's the cost of paper and ink and cover material and binding,
as well as labor. The print version of a novel the same length as The D.A.'s Forever would probably sell for between
$9.99 and $19.99. No way could one obtain a good copy of a print book of The D.A.'s Forever for $2.99; the quality
of a used book selling for less than that amount would probably range from fair to poor, and postage would likely bring the
cost back up. There's no postage with ebooks!
Q: Gotcha. So why is
it exclusive to Amazon Kindle?
A: Well, in addition
to the ease of publishing with Kindle—the process literally took just minutes, and the book was live in the Kindle Store
within hours—keeping the ebook exclusive to Kindle allows me to have it enrolled in Kindle Select. With Kindle Select,
members of Amazon Prime can "borrow" the book from the Kindle Owners' Lending Library for free, and I as the author would
earn revenue for this as well.
Q: Too bad The D.A.'s
Forever is available only as an ebook. I would have loved to be able to give copies to friends and family members as
gifts.
A: Who says you can't?
Amazon.com allows anyone to purchase a Kindle book as a gift. Just click on the "Give as a Gift" button on the right-hand
side of the product page, add the recipient's email address (or tick the box to have the link emailed to you), confirm your
order—and voilą! You can buy as many copies of The D.A.'s Forever as gifts as you'd like.
Q: So will The D.A.'s
Forever ever be made available as a print book? I still like to hold a "real" book in my hands.
A: As do I. Currently
I don't have any plans lined up for a print version of the book, but I've learned never to say never.
Q: You mention that the
sale price of The D.A.'s Forever is $2.99 USD. Is the book only available in the U.S.?
A: The D.A.'s Forever is available worldwide on Amazon.com. For direct links to the book's product page on Amazon's various global sites,
