Jeff Barry was truly the driving force behind the success of the Archies. He
produced the first four Archies studio albums and wrote many of the songs for those albums (including the
Record of the Year for 1969, "Sugar, Sugar," with Andy Kim) plus the Dance of the Week tunes used every Saturday morning on
The Archie Show.
If you listen closely, you can
even hear Jeff's distinctive bass background vocals on a few Archies tunes such as "Jingle Jangle" and "You Little Angel,
You."
Of course, The Archies project comprises
just a small percentage of this man's career accomplishments. He's been writing and producing since the early 60's for
artists such as the Ronettes, the Crystals, and Andy Kim.
